The cake rocks!

The baby shower was a huge success, the pregnant girls got tons of presents and even more love, I got to show off my new house and we all got to spend tons of time with family we don’t get to see very often.

The last minute drama was of course the cake. I’d ordered a barnyard cake from Wal-Mart on Tuesday and told the girl who took my order that I needed to pick it up at noon, since the shower started at three. She didn’t understand, apparently, and filled the paper work out to say I wanted to pick it up at three! So, we were crazy trying to figure out what to do. Thankfully a friend of the family’s, B’s grandma in fact, found us a cake that was all white with red borders, and I was able to find decorations that would work at the last minute. Here’s some pictures of the end result, which was so easy to do!

I sprinkled bright green sugar around to make the grass, then used crushed up Nilla Wafers as the path the farmer is standing on. The pig pen is broken bits of Oreos, and the toys came in a pack for $20 at Wal-Mart in the toy department. It was a huge success and everyone loved it, especially S., which was the only thing that mattered!

About messymama
I'm a SAHM with a busy schedule and a love of too many things to count! I sew, I write, I draw, and I love to create. I'm always on the lookout for a new project idea. One other very important thing about me - my house is in a continual state of upheaval and mess. Slowly but surely I'm working through the piles and boxes, but I am still in the process, and some days it seems like it would be much easier to pack up and move!
